Specifications
If you would like to edit multiple tracks at the same time or create a polyphonic arrangement from a single voice, but you can dispense with the comprehensive possibilities of Melodyne studio, then Melodyne cre8 is the software of your choice.
Just as the big Melodyne studio, Melodyne cre8 is a multitrack program. Up to eight audio tracks can be recorded and edited (unlimited number of tracks in Melodyne studio). Although you cannot handle polyphonic recordings or complete songs in cre8 (only possible in Melodyne studio), the high quality Melodyne algorithms and macros are available nevertheless: from minor corrections of intonation to extreme pitch shifting and from the subtle modification of grooves to drastic time stretching.
Melodyne cre8 is ideal for creating a complete choir arrangement from a single lead vocal. Just copy the vocal to the other tracks, select a key and move the additional voices in pitch. Melodyne cre8 will automatically adjust the new tracks to the correct key and give you authentic sounding backing voices within a few minutes – if you wish even with slight deviations in pitch, rhythm and colour to make them sound even more realistic. In the same way you can create a string quartet from a solo violin or you let your brass section sound a little fatter. The possibilities are endless!
Of course you can use Melodyne cre8 – like the other versions of Melodyne – to correct and refine little successful recording performances, too. For this you don't need to run cre8 as a standalone program, but you can connect to your familiar recording software (eg. ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Sonar and more) via ReWire or the MelodyneBridge. Please read our FAQ for details.
The Melodyne Sound Library
Melodyne cre8 can read sample libraries created using Melodyne technology such as those of Ueberschall’s Liquid Instruments (from version 3.0) or the Melodyne Sound Libraries (from version 3.1), thereby obtaining access to an almost inexhaustible supply of licks and phrases.
Even if you are familiar with previous versions of Melodyne cre8, you might want to consider an update to version 3 to benefit from the automatic and reliable note recognition or the Correct Pitch and Quantize Time macros, which allow the most common flaws in vocal and instrumental recordings to be removed with a few mouse clicks. With the new Melody Manager you can comfortably browse audio files on your hard disk.
