P-SOLO MIC PREAMP

The News is TRUE!

The acclaimed TRUE sound is now available as a SINGLE Channel unit!

At the 119th AES Convention in NYC, TRUE Systems will introduce the P-SOLO, a single channel version of the acclaimed TRUE Systems’ family of microphone / instrument preamps. While sporting the same design and sound of the TRUE Systems Precision 8 and P2 Analog preamps, this new compact, single channel, desk-top version features:

• Natural, musical, highly-detailed soundfield
• Complete compatibility and superior results with any mics – condenser, dynamic, and ribbon
• A totally balanced, dual servo, high dynamic range, transformerless design
• Internal linear AC power supply for excellent transient response
• High impedance instrument input
• High-pass filter and 48v phantom power
• Dual analog outputs
• Four-level metering
• Over-size volume control with selectable 10db input level attenuation
• Compact, portable, solid desk-top case

Unlike many other mic preamps where the lower-cost versions come at a big cost to the sound, the P-SOLO is, in every regard, a TRUE Systems microphone preamp, offering the “high-end mic pre” quality at an affordable, entry-level price.

Tim Spencer, CEO for TRUE Systems and designer of the TRUE Systems’ Mic Preamps states: “Our goal was to design a single-channel mic preamp that provides high-end sonic performance at a cost-effective price for the serious musician or recording engineer. We want to put the same quality of product used on Grammy-winning recordings and major concert tours, into the hands of an entirely new audience. We feel that we have achieved, if not exceeded this goal. The P-SOLO is perfect for studio and location recording, and live sound applications – wherever a microphone is used. And not only that, its instrument direct input feature provides exceptional articulation, presence and depth when an instrument preamp is needed. The P-SOLO is designed to provide stunning sonic detail, with a neutral, musical character, capable of delivering outstanding performance in every situation we could think of.”

The TRUE Systems P-SOLO will begin shipping October 2005

The True Systems P-Solo is a single-channel, solid-state, precision microphone preamp, that offers high-end quality at a moderate price. Priced at € 645.00 this preamp is a small investment for a huge upgrade in sound quality. A totally balanced, transformerless design is packaged in a compact, solid and stylish enclosure.

The attractive front panel is dominated by an oversize gain control with selectable 10dB input level attenuation. When rotated clockwise, the knob clicks audibly, before switching into a normal variable-gain mode. Also on the front panel are switches for 48 V phantom power and an 80 Hz low-cut filter. An array of 4 LED's provides output gain metering.

On the rear panel you find a balanced XLR mic input, dual (XLR and jack) balanced analog outputs, a standard power connector and a power switch.

For broadcast/voiceover applications in combination with the Audio Technica AT4047 microphone and the Symetrix 528E voice processor, the P-Solo really gives me a 'wow' factor on my own voice, that is brought to life compared to stock preamps.

Characteristics:
- exceptional articulation
- minimal coloration
- an astonishing dynamic range
- excellent transient response
- ultralow distortion
- low noise

Overall, this preamp delivers a natural, highly detailed soundfield with a much better low-end than stock preamps and a pleasing midrange, clean and very warm, never being overly bright.

Based on how it sounds and considering the price, the P-Solo is the best choice for someone looking for a general-purpose mic preamp. True Systems has made a remarkable product with infinite usefulness for the home recordist.
