Specifications

The new biamplified active loudspeaker system W440A replaces model W400A. The completely redesigned on-board electronics include self-diagnostics circuitry and sophisticated speaker protections. Dedicated active processors, with operating thresholds that are sensitive to supply voltage, signal frequency and average output power, check the operation of the internal power amplifiers in real time. These power amplifiers (MosFet, class AB) were designed around an innovative driver stage that guarantees the lowest possible distortion, while providing excellent dynamic and tonal performance. A 3-band equalizer allows to adjust the frequency response to the various applications, resulting in increased versatility.

Just like W14A and W17A, the new model W440A stands out for its unique and innovative design which includes 6 sturdy fly points (patented) completely integrated in the cabinet, made from HD polyethilene, and designed to hang or angle the speaker in the air as required, using any type of hook available on the market. This idea eliminates the need for additional screw-up components and ensures easy, quick and very safe installation in any situation.

The shape of the cabinet allows for both vertical (for standard P.A.) and horizontal (for stage monitoring) installation. It is also equipped with 2 side handles (for easy carry and set-up) and with a stand adapter.

The low weight to performance ratio makes it the ideal choice for touring systems, and makes its use in fixed installations easier. Wide variety of applications: voice reinforcement systems, night clubs, houses of worship, theatrical sound reinforcement, audio-visual systems, conference centers, presentations, ballrooms, small to medium/large-sized main sound reinforcement systems, fill-in sound and side-fills.

W440A is equipped with specially designed custom transducers operating in complete synergy with the dedicated electronic circuitry:
12" lightweight neodymium magnet woofer for the bass section.
1" compression driver loaded by a 90° x 70° horn - integrated in the shape of the cabinet - for the mid-high section.

The no-compromise built-in electronics includes: 
2, class AB, Mosfet amplifiers, each one fitted with our exclusive loudspeaker protections and a soft-start circuit to reduce the peak current drain at switch-on. 
the two on-board power amplifiers deliver a total output power of 400 W continuous (600 W peak) divided into 300 W (450 peak) for the bass section and 100 W (150 peak) for the mid/high section.
2 active dynamic processors, optimise the specific features of each component and provide direct control of the operation of the system, ensuring a constantly flat frequency response. They feature independent time constants (and operating thresholds that are sensitive to line voltage) and limit any excessive voice coil movement under the most demanding operating conditions. Unimpeded operation is guaranteed even when the system is subjected to extreme line voltage excursions.
a high slope active electronic crossover (24dB/oct. Linkwitz-Riley) guaranteeing phase coherency and perfect overlapping of acoustic emissions of the transducers in the crossover region.

The rear control and connection panel is fitted with:
balanced Neutrik Combo® input (Jack+XLR) switchable to accept both line and microphone levels, enabling the W440A to be used as a stand-alone amplification system;
balanced output (LINK) allowing parallel connection of other active speaker systems;
3-band equalizer. It allows to to optimize the frequency response for stage monitor applications and also to modify the mid-high frequency response increasing thus the projection and presence of the vocal range;
main volume control.

In the situations requiring an extension of the low frequency range, W440A combines perfectly with the Montarbo active subwoofers all with built-in stereo electronic cross-over.
